Transfer of Power: Voodoo style

Our "Transfer of Power" death ritual for the inauguration was designed and shared in hopes that folks would participate to lend energy to the working and make it their own! One of MPA's practitioners, Jamie Marie Robinson, shared a great example of how she adapted the base ritual to fit with her personal practice as a Voodoo Mambo. Starting with the same core intention written down as a petition, Jamie uses red, white, and blue candles to represent the two opposing ideas of America. She layers in traditional Voodoo ingredients and calls on seven archangels in a slow burn spell that's laser-focused on the banishment of Old Columbia and the transformation of her power to New Columbia's ascent.

Jamie did a classic 7 day moon working/crossing spell along with a call to arms for the Loa.

She started with the following candles:

*1 white and 1 blue 7 day novena candle

*1 Female figure candle

*Jumbo Black candle

She used red, white and blue--the colors of the American flag. As red symbolizes Valor and courage, she wanted to use a female figure to give strength to New Columbia.

Jamie then dressed each candle with Van-Van Oil (which is used as a protection oil and to signify a turn around of circumstances) and Wormwood oil (to push these intentions into the astral plane).

The large black candle was also dressed with High John root to petition the Hoodoo figure of High John to carry the spell and bring success.

She then wrote the intentions for the spell on brown paper, as is tradition. inside the paper was placed a galangal root to assist with power.

The jumbo black candle has 7 markings, calling upon the 7 archangels. It will be burned one section each day until the spell is complete. The petition written on brown paper is burned with the first ignition of the jumbo black candle(see video)

The other Novena candles will be burned non stop until they extinguish themselves. The jars of the candles and the wax will then be interpreted.

The red candle is burned to completion, and any left over wax will be left by a church for increased power.
